Q: Does pollen make your skin itch?
A: I have heard from a lot of you who are dealing with allergic reactions to all of the pollen that is around. I talked with Doctor Geoff Harter with Jefferson Surgical Clinic because he treats a lot of local allergy patients.
He says, “Yes, pollen does make your skin itch. Just like other allergy symptoms, it is one of the various allergic reactions just like sneezy, itchy, watery eyes.”
Many over the counter medicines can help with allergy symptoms. Always talk to your doctor or pharmacist to make sure there is no chance that allergy medicine could interfere with any other medications you may be taking.

Everyone has been dealing with the bright yellow pollen that is everywhere. Pollen gets its color from the plant producing it. Right now we are mainly dealing with tree pollen. If you think you are seeing more this year than other years it may have to do with the weather.
Dr. Harter says, “It can vary by the weather dry weather and the windy conditions.”
Pollen is worse when the weather is dry and the breezes we have been having lately are what have been spreading it all over the place. When there is less wind the pollen tends to stay closer to the trees and land mainly on the ground around them.
