*Strength Training is especially important as we age. Incorporate weight bearing activities like lifting weights or yoga in order to keep your metabolism up. Strength train twice a week to get the benefits.
*Eat fewer packaged foods to cut back on sugar, salt and saturated fat. Ally says all three of them stick right to our bellies, hips and thighs. Also, get plenty of fiber from fruits and vegetables.
*A combination of healthy eating, cardio and strength training is the best way to slim down around your waist.
*Keep stress to a minimum to lower the amount of cortisol in your bloodstream. Cortisol is a hormone that leads to a bigger middle.
Since I have been seriously working out and eating healthy I have cut out a lot of refined sugar in my diet. I eat wheat bread instead of white bread. I try to only have sweets on special occasions and I eat a lot of fruits and vegetables and meat in moderation. My experience has proven that we have to combine both exercise and healthy eating as we age. Honestly, even when I was a teenager, my weight was a struggle.
