FDA warns people to avoid flu medicines sold online

»  Comments | Post a Comment

Buyers beware.
If you're trying to stay away from the flu, the FDA has issued a warning telling people to avoid drugs sold on the internet.
The FDA says counterfeit drugs are popping up all over the web.
It has already found at least 75 websites selling fake flu remedies, like pills that have the same ingredients as Tylenol, that doctors say would offer no protection.
Alyson Saben with the FDA says, "Its always a possibility they could contain an ingredient that could hurt people, we just don't know. Other possibilities that occur are by taking or purchasing these products, they're giving people a false sense of protection."
One infectious disease researcher says if you're really concerned about becoming sick, get vaccinated.
