RADFORD - Radford University has a new piece of equipment which could make a big difference in physical therapy.

The Waldron School of Health and Human Sciences showed off their SMART Balance Master on Monday afternoon. It's used to help evaluate what's causing a patients lack of balance through visual cues, joint sensation, etc.

The machine belongs to the new doctoral physical therapy program. Faculty say it's something that could benefit our region.

"We can do cooperative research with Carilion Virginia Tech Medical Center now with the local physicians, local communities all through here through southwest Virginia," said Dr. Ed Swanson.
