  • Maroons softball run comes to an end

    Roanoke's incredible run at the NCAA DIII Softball Championship came to an end after a 6-1 loss to #3 ranked Linfield College on Sunday night. The Maroons battled to a fourth place finish in the tournament and end their season with a record of 35-11.  This is the fourteenth team in Roanoke College history to reach the final four in their respective sport.  They are also second women's program to garner the accomplishment.  Linfield (45-6) moves on to play Montclair State at 11 AM on Monday.

    The Lynchburg College baseball team was eliminated from the NCAA Division III Tournament with a 7-1 loss to top-seeded Christopher Newport University on Thursday at Captains Stadium in Newport News. The Hornets, the fifth seed in the double-elimination South Regional, were held to only four hits, all singles. CNU starting pitcher Bryan Bierlein tossed six strong innings, allowing only three hits and one run while striking out six.

If Lynchburg is to advance, it will need to eliminate the Captains on their home field at 9:30 this morning.
