"Sorry.", Tammy Bishop says as she chokes up. "Nobody should have to live like that."
Tammy Bishop gets emotional talking about the last eleven and a half years. Bishop only dated Steven Branscome for six months, but since their split has called police over and over, she says because of repeated threats from Branscome.
"You tell the mother of a child you're going to take her kids swimming and tie cinder blocks around their ankles and you're gonna torture their mom to death. He's threatened to kidnap my sister and brother and send pieces of them in the mail. I'm gonna do whatever I need to do to take care of my family.", says Bishop.
As officers looked all over Floyd County for any sign of her ex, "We went and hid at a friend's house.", says Bishop. "I kept my son out of school for a week."
During what she calls the scariest week of her family's life, Bishop saw interviews with Branscome's friends and family. She couldn't believe what she was hearing.
"How can anybody say he's a good guy and he shot an officer.", says Bishop. "The people who say they are his friends, I think they are his friends because they are too afraid to not be his friend."
With Branscome's arrest, comes relief.
"I'm just glad he's gone and I hope it's gonna be for a long, long, long, long time, if not for good.", says Bishop. "I mean I hate to say it, and Lord forgive me for saying it, but I was hoping they would kill him. I was honestly hoping that he would try to have a shootout with them and they would just kill him and it would be done."
