Dog park public meeting

»  Comments | Post a Comment

Dogs are getting a place to run loose in Roanoke. The city is just trying to decide exactly where.

Parks and Recreation held a public meeting Tuesday night.

The proposed site for the off leash area is one acre of Highland Park. Dogs owners say it has everything they're looking for.

"Not near a major road. Not clearly visible to homes. A flat area for dogs that may need help and owners that may need help and a dedicated staff of volunteers to help you out and eureka we have we have them with this location in Highland Park.", says dog owner Lauren Ellerman.

Several neighbors said they would prefer a different section of the park become the off leash area.

Parks and Rec director Steve Buschor tells us the ultimate location will be within Highland Park but not necessarily on the currently proposed site.
