Obama mania in Martinsville

»  Comments | Post a Comment

Based on all the pictures, autographs, and handshakes, you would think Barack Obama was singing into the microphone, and Mark Warner was playing the drums.

Seven Minutes with Barack Obama

Mary E. Farris was one of the lucky ones who got to meet the man she idolizes.

"I just told him how much I liked him, and that I was voting for him and that he would do a very, very good job," Farris said.

Darcell Jacobs got to meet him after he spoke as well, but her most memorable moment came during the rally.

Let's just say the top to a water bottle never meant so much.

"When the top came off the water bottle and it rolled towards me, it was like ‘thank you god,’ Jacobs said.

Joan Ziglar, the Martinsville Commonwealth's Attorney, got Obama’s autograph and picture.

"I feel like he's hope... Not a rock star, not a super star, but somebody who really cares," Ziglar said.

And she's right. Obama's not a rock star. For these people, he's much, much more.
