The Secret Service showed up at Short Sugar's around 2 PM to sweep the restaurant for security purposes.

Obama ordered lunch with former Governor and current Senate candidate Mark Warner around 3:30 PM.

Warner had campaigned at the restaurant a couple of times before, according to several patrons having lunch.

Obama ordered a North Carolina style chopped sandwich for himself and two pounds of ribs for his crew.

Warner ordered a minced sandwich.

Obama paid for everything, according to the restaurant manager.

The visit was kept secret from the crowd, although some onlookers thought it might be a possibility since Warner and Obama were campaigning in nearby Martinsville.

Obama signed several autographs, posed for pictures, and kissed a pair of babies before getting back on his bus in order to attend a town hall meeting at E.C. Glass High School in Lynchburg.
