Ready or not Hokies hit the road

»  Comments | Post a Comment

Shirts, hats and anything Hokie flew off the shelf Friday.

“A lot of people coming in to get stuff to go to the ECU game [Saturday]. Even though it’s a home game away from home people are still buying stuff for the game,” said Jerry Diffell, Manager of Tech Bookstore.

Hokie fan, Amy McConaghie and her two boys were stocking up.

“We like to dress up for the game, you know, make sure we have the right colors on. I know [Saturday] is a big maroon day,” said McConaghie.

The fans that we spoke to say even though the Hokies aren’t playing at Lane Stadium the first game is exciting none the less.

“This is what it’s all about, we’re ready to start jumping now football season is back in Blacksburg,” said Diffell.

Across campus, the football team wasn’t jumping on the field, but they were definitely practicing plays.

Coach Beamer says it’s ready or not.

“You know you worry about all the inexperience, but they need to play , they need to get in the game, they need to play, we need to see where we are,” said Frank Beamer, Coach of the Virginia Tech Hokies.

Games preps wrapped up in Blacksburg, the team loaded the buses, and along with their traveling fans they hit the road to Charlotte.
