Mary Parks trial continued until December 2009

»  Comments | Post a Comment

The trial for a local mother charged in her toddler's death has been postponed until next year.

Mary Nelson Parks is charged with involuntary manslaughter and felony child neglect after she found her 2 year-old son not breathing in her car last September.

The medical examiner's office determined her son died of heat stroke.

The trial was scheduled to start on Monday, but this morning a judge approved a motion to continue the trial until December 2009.

The Wythe County Commonwealth's Attorney office is handling the case and would not comment on why it is being postponed for so long.

In the meantime, Parks will remain out on bond and will be allowed to travel outside of Virginia.
