Back to back ACC Championships mean the Virginia Tech Football Team is seeing orange once again, but based on ticket sales many fans are not.
"I don't think we'll have quite as many people as we had last year," Virginia Tech Athletic Director Jim Weaver said.
Weaver says Tech fans normally have their suitcases packed and ready.
"Our university has had a great reputation of being a team that travels well," Weaver said.
Among other reasons, he says this year fans just don't have the money.
"There are some people out there who don't want to go, because they're not pleased with the outcome of our offensive performance," he said.
On websites like StubHub, tickets that cost more than a $100 face-value are going for $10 or $15.
Yet the tickets the school is selling are going for $125.
So far, the athletic department has only sold 4,500 tickets, and it's required to pay for at least 8,000 of its 17,500 ticket allotment. The conference will pick up the rest of the tab.
With time running out, the athletic department can only hope more maroon and orange are willing to pay the green.
