University of Richmond drinkers will help revitalize county

Nearly two dozen underage University of Richmond students caught drinking at an off-campus party will pay their debt to society by helping revitalize Henrico County.
A General District judge imposed community service hours Monday against 22 defendants sentenced for drinking in October at what he described as a "rip-roaring" party held after a Richmond Spiders football game.
Most of the defendants pleaded no contest.
The students will work on projects that range from picking up trash to helping the elderly with lawn care.
The students will have to drive on restricted licenses and each do 50 hours of community service. They could face jail time and hefty fines if they have not complied with the provisions after six months.
Thirteen other defendants in the case were convicted and sentenced last year.
