Campbell County Planners Approve 132-acre Subdivision

»  Comments | Post a Comment

Campbell County planners approved a 132-acre subdivision in Rustburg on Monday.

The 29-lot Foxcroft Estates is just off U.S. 501 near Suburban Road. Lot sizes are between three and seven-and-a-half acres.

The project was first proposed in the fall, Campbell County community development director Paul Harvey said. Initially the developers submitted the project with a request to rezone the land from agricultural to residential, but ultimately decided against that, Harvey said.

The existing lot has very little road frontage and fire code regulations require a second entrance to a state-maintained road if there are 30 or more houses, Harvey said.

Since the development does not require rezoning, the planning commission’s approval

is final.

Harvey said he didn’t know any specifics on the project other than the preliminary site plan.

Campbell County planners unanimously recommended that two acres off U.S. 29, south of Virginia 24, be rezoned for a truck hauling business. They also recommended approval for the business’s special use permit.

The industrial property is near the Seneca Commerce Park already has a commercial entrance to Wards Road.

Owner Wade Keatts told the planning commission he intends for the property to be home base for four trucks, which are used to haul transformers for powers companies.

The request will go before the county Board of Supervisors next month.
