Comcast Changing Channels

»  Comments | Post a Comment

Don’t be surprised when you wake up Wednesday morning and the channel lineups on your TV have changed.

Comcast Digital Cable channel lineups across the Blue Ridge region, including the Danville area, will realign on Wednesday to what Comcast is describing as “a more streamlined, user-friendly, genre-based format.”

“What people should be most excited about is the realignment of channels,” Jaye Linnen, Comcast spokesperson, said Monday. “The Comcast cable lineup for the former Adelphia customers will be realigned throughout all the Blue Ridge.”

She said the key to the new lineup will be for the customers to understand it is genre specific.

For example, children’s programming will be grouped together as well as news, science, sports, etc.

“Another cool thing is for the sports enthusiasts,” Linnen said. “Customers can purchase Comcast’s Sports Entertainment Pack and have access to nine new sports channels.”

The Sports Entertainment Pack will be available for the first six months for $1.99 and then for $6 a month after that.

The pack includes NFL Network, NFL Network HD, NBA TV, NHL Network, The Sportsman Channel and four college sports networks, including CSTV and FOX College Sports Atlantic, Central and Pacific.

New channels also will be available under the changes: FOX Business; C-SPAN3; Jewelry TV; Daystar, which is the second largest Christian programming network; three new movie channels - MoviePlex, IndiePlex, RetroPlex; and an expansion of the CableSelecto offerings are part of the lineup.

Subscribers to Comcast digital cable will remain at their existing package after the changes. However, if they wish to upgrade or downgrade service or service is restarted after non-payment, the customer will be automatically placed into a new Comcast digital package, according to the company’s Web site.

Customers who are currently on a promotion will have no change in service, but at the end of the promotion period, they will be automatically changed to the new Comcast package and pricing level.
