Craig County Solider Killed in Iraq

Sgt. Tracy Birkman, died of non-combat related injuries in Iraq

A soldier from our area dies in Iraq.

The Department of Defense says that Sgt. Tracy Renee Birkman of New Castle died on Friday, January 25, of non-combat related injuries.

She was assigned to the 626th Brigade Support Battalion, 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault), Fort Campbell, Ky.

Birkman was 41-years-old.
