JMU receives record applications from freshmen

HARRISONBURG, Va. (AP) - James Madison University has received a record number of applications for admission to next fall's freshman class.
JMU admissions director Michael Walsh says 19,350 students have applied for admission, up 4 percent from the 18,600 who applied for the current academic year.
A total of 3,960 spaces are available for the 2008-09 freshman class. University officials say applicants will receive notification of admission decisions on April 1.
