Gas cards for blood donations

»  Comments | Post a Comment

Anyone giving the gift of life Friday walked away with a $5 gas card to Sheetz.

Red Cross officials say donations have been extremely low this summer and giving out free gas they thought was the best way to get people to stop by the blood drive, and it seemed to work.

“Last year on July 4th we only had 9 people to come in and donate and we've had 19 so far today with 7 more scheduled, so we'd be anticipating about 25 to 26 people come here, so I think the gas card got attention if nothing else,” explained Dave Smith, Director of Donor Resources.

To help boost donations the local Red Cross is holding about ten drives a day in their 46 county district.
