An inmate at Martinsville City Jail dies in custody.

The Martinsville Sheriff's Office says 59-year-old Robert Scott was being held on a probation violation since July 3rd.

He was found around 9:50 a.m. Sunday, by officers who thought he was having a seizure. Officers provided medical treatment until Martinsville Fire and EMS arrived. Scott was taken to Memorial Hospital of Martinsville Henry County where he was later pronounced dead.

Monday's autopsy found that Scott's death was due to natural causes.

Martinsville Police are investigating.
