Lynchburg Police trying to solve break-in spree

A string of larcenies and break-ins in the Rivermont area have police asking for the public’s help.

string of larcenies and break-ins in the Rivermont area have police asking for the public’s help.

The break-ins happened on Woodside Avenue, Columbia Avenue, Denver Avenue, the 1300 block of Riv-ermont Ave., Botetourt Street, the 300 block of Charlotte Street as well as Cleveland Avenue.

They happened during last month and this month.

Thieves took weed eaters, chain saws, power tools, jewelry, and electronic equipment. On three of the dates, copper was taken out five outdoor air conditioning units. The losses total $22,390.

Anyone with information on the crime is asked to call Crime Stoppers at (888) 798-5900.

Crime Stoppers will pay a reward of up to $1,000 for information leading to an arrest.

The person who provided tip number 08-108 is asked to contact Lieutenant J.C. Bauserman of the Lynchburg Police Department at (434) 455-3747 to collect reward money.

Bauserman requests the calls be made Monday through Friday between 8:30 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.
