DANVILLE - A man was robbed Monday while trying to help out what he thought was a stranded motorist, according to Danville police.
Sgt. P.R. Deel said the man was near the corner of Kemper Road and Bonner Avenue at about 5:30 p.m. when he saw a car in the road with flashing caution lights.
He got out of his car thinking the other vehicle had broken down, the sergeant said.
A young man came out of the other car with a knife and demanded the victim’s wallet, Deel said.
The man handed over his wallet and the suspect took the cash and threw the wallet on the ground, he said, adding the suspect then ran.
Anyone with any information on this crime is urged to contact Danville Crime Stoppers at (434) 793-0000, or crime tips at crimetips@ci.danville.va.us.
