West Virginia coal miner killed in work accident

STOLLINGS, W.Va. (AP) - A Massey Energy employee has been killed in a work-related accident.
Massey spokesman Jeff Gillenwater says the man, who worked for the company's Mass Transport, died Thursday while trying to free a tractor-trailer stuck at a railroad crossing near Stollings in Logan County. Gillenwater says the company is trying to determine what happened.
Logan Emergency Ambulance Service Authority operations chief Dave Maynard says something apparently fell from the trailer and hit the man in the face.
A federal Mine Safety and Health Administration spokeswoman confirmed details of the accident, but declined to release the victim's name. MSHA is not investigating because the accident didn't occur on mine property.
Richmond, Virginia-based Massey operates 19 mining complexes in West Virginia, Kentucky and Virginia.
