If you're wondering why you saw fire trucks outside Roanoke Memorial Hospital this afternoon, Carilion says you can blame a burned out elevator motor.

Carilion tells us the motor burned out in the east wing of the hospital.

The burn-out caused sparks and smoke. Some of the smoke vented out of the elevator shaft, and could be seen from the hospital's roof.

The hospital shut down two of the east elevators.

No one is hurt.
