Chasing the eye of the storm in Southside

One of the areas under a tornado warning was Pittsylvania County.

After following lightning and rain in Franklin County for over an hour with no severe weather in sight, we cross over the Pittsylvania County line and in a matter of moments we found a road block, several trees had fallen on the road due to high winds.

Steven Garber watched the trees fall from inside his truck as he gets peppered with debris.

"It must have been hail or something. It sounded like rocks hitting the truck," said Steven Garber, who witnessed the storm.

When we were on Route 40 the storm had just hit, in fact, crews hadn't even gotten there yet, and already a local farmer is working to clean up.

Estimated 110 mile per hour winds ripped through the area uprooting and snapping in half a row of trees and just as quick as they fell, the farmer cleaned it up and the cars were on their way.
