K92 raises money for the hungry

»  Comments | Post a Comment

A local radio station asked listeners to donate money for a good cause on Friday.
The crew from the K92 Mornin' Thang - Danny, Zack, and Monica - "Flushed the Format" between 6 a.m. and 6 p.m.
Throughout the 12 hours, they took any music request in exchange for a donation to the Southwestern Virginia Second Harvest Food Bank.

"When you put out a message like there's people in your backyard who are hungry and [listeners] exceed your wildest expectations with generosity, it's the best part of this job," said Danny Meyers.

Later, Zack Jackson went to the extreme of going up in a crane outside their studio, taking off layers in the cold weather to get listeners to give more money.

Before the newscast, Ten On Your Side called K92 and learned they raised more than $16,000.
