Having a large family over for Thanksgiving can be quite the task, often times bringing more stress than happiness. Not the case for Jeffrey Gorham at Roanoke's Resuce Mission. He's the man in charge of putting together dinner for more than 1,500 less-fortunate Roanokers.
"We usually serve at least 950 as day. For Thanksgiving, we are expecting 1,500. I'll be ready for more than that, though.
Gorham is planning a dinner that includes mashed potatoes, green beans, pumpkin pie and of course, turkey.
"We bought 90 turkeys... all going in the oven by Thursday."
All of it prepared by volunteers who make the whole process possible.
"I'm glad we have them (laughter). They're a great help in making the whole process of feeding 1,500 people possible.
This is Gorham's 13th year at the mission and has says he has seen this holiday many times before and has felt the same feeling everytime.
"It's a good feeling. At the end of the day... after a hard job... it feels good inside."
