John's take: I had run 20 miles the morning of this crash, in preparation for an upcoming marathon. My friend Mark Young and I had driven to the New River Trail, run the 20 miles and returned home exhausted. I had just settled in on the couch when the phone rang and our producer told me I needed to get to Patrick County asap. I couldn’t believe it.
