A program designed to help first-time parents in the Roanoke Valley gets some much needed financial support.
The "Helpful opportunities for parents to excel" -- or "Hope" -- was on the brink of ending until it received a 25-thousand dollar grant from "The UPS Foundation".
The "Hope" program provides families of all socio-economic backrounds with parental guidance.
Program leaders say the new money will help pay for the parent educators.
Robin Haldiman, the executive director of CHIP, which runs HOPE, says, "Without it the program would definitely be cut and maybe even end so this is huge for us."
Since it began in 1996, hope has served more than 15-thousand first-time parents in the Roanoke Valley.
