Deadly crash on Rt. 220 closes road for eight hours

There's been another deadly crash, at a trouble spot on Route 220.

Just before 2:00 a.m. Saturday morning Roanoke City Police say two cars collided in the southbound lanes, just afterthe Elm Avenue exit.

One driver died on the scene and EMS crews took the other to Roanoke Memorial Hospital.

All three lanes remained closed for more than eight hours, and re-opened just before 11:00 a.m.

We're still waiting to hear from police about what caused the crash and the names of the people involved.
