Vendors increase at Happy's Flea Market

»  Comments | Post a Comment

Happy's flea market in Roanoke is seeing more vendors than before.
The manager tells 10 On Your Side that the number of vendors has dramatically increased.
In the summer, which is usually the slowest time of year, there was an average of 120 vendors a day.
Compare that with last summers numbers, an average of 90 vendors a day.
He says the flea market offers people a way to make extra money -- with no overhead costs.
One vendor we spoke to says he decided to sell his belongings after he got layed-off.
Phillip Painter of Salem says, "There's not much construction going on between the gas prices the job was Lynchburg it was costing me 120 dollars a week just to go up there and work so anytime i get extra junk i try to come out here to make a buck."
Happy's manager also tells us that he is seeing more affluent vendors selling their things than ever before.
