Roanoke Police file charges in a car crash that killed a Rocky Mount Police officer.

Roanoke officers charged Brooks Leisure with involuntary manslaughter, for the deadly crash on Route 220 early on Saturday, October 11th.

The crash killed officer Jason Maxey.

Investigators say Leisure was driving the wrong way, going north in the southbound lanes, and smashed into Maxey's car. The crash happened in the curve just past the Elm Avenue exit.

Police are asking any witnesses to call them.
