New additions to the D-Day Memorial

»  Comments | Post a Comment

Some new additions to the D-Day memorial are put into place today. One piece, called "Across the Beach", depicts an Army medic helping a wounded man ashore.

The sculpture will replace another 1,700 lb statue that has been a part of the memorial since inception. Renamed "Valor, Fidelity, Sacrifice", the old sculpture will be moved to an area below the arches in Estes Plaza.

World reknowned artist, Jim Brothers, brought the new works, which also includes a bust of British General Bernard "Monty" Montgomery, all the way from Kansas.
