WSLS Senior Political Reporter Jay Warren goes one on one with Senate Candidate Jim Gilmore.

In an interview Jay did some word association with Jim Gilmore on several topics including:
What one word comes to mind when he thinks about Southwest Virginia.
Gilmore said,"Jobs."
Iraq?
Gilmore said "I would say that it is a dangerous moment for the United States and we should be careful and experienced in our approach."
Global Warmong?
Gilmore said, "Something that requires the closest scientific scrutiny."
President Bush?
Gilmore said, "A strong individual who wants to do the right thing perhaps I would have done things a little differently than he has done. But I wasn't there to counsel him or guide him."
John McCain?
Gilmore said, "A determined individual with a distinguished history of service."
Barack Obama"
Gilmore said, "Eloquent, rhetorical, but where's the beef?"
Mark Warner?
Gilmore said, "Mark Warner I think is a person who has not done what he said he would do."
Biggest Fear?
Gilmore said, "Like everybody else, insecurity. A sense that your economic future may not be completely secure."
Roughly 80% of Americans say America is on the wrong track. Are they right or wrong?
Gilmore said, "I think we have been on the wrong track. i think that we have not taken the steps to take care of people in the United States of America."
What is your leadership style?
Gilmore said," My leadership style is to be thoughtful, to then set out a course of action, to be honest to people about what that is. And then try to keep my word and execute it."
What is the best trait of your opponent, Mark Warner?
Gilmore said, "Wealth. He has an enormous wealth, in a time in America today when wealth matters a great deal in politics. "
Tech or UVA?
Gilmore said, "Well, UVA. I went to UVA, both my boys went to UVA, Roxanne went to UVA. But, you know, when tech played for the national championship down there in New Orleans, i was right there with them."
