NORFOLK - (AP) Barack Obama says John McCain's campaign is offering lies, phony outrage and Swift-boat politics by claiming he made a sexist comment about Sarah Palin at a rally yesterday.
At issue is Obama's comment that "you can put lipstick on a pig" but that it's "still a pig."
He used that old saying while arguing that McCain's economic policies are just like President Bush's policies.
The McCain camp accused Obama of "smearing" Palin.
Obama's campaign points out that McCain has used the phrase himself.
