You can wave goodbye to Virginia Tech's quarterback situation, because Coach Frank Beamer says it's official: "Tyrod's our quarterback."
Sean Glennon was parked on the bench all game Saturday, getting up occasionally to congratulate teammates.
Surprised?
Some teammates say yes.
"I was a little. I don't know what the situation was on the offensive side in the ball -- I try not to get into that -- but the main thing is that we just came out with a win," Purnell Strudivant said.
"I didn't know until I think it was Friday. Friday afternoon was when we found out," Nick Marshman said.
Marshman says it doesn't matter who takes snaps behind center; it doesn’t affect his job at all.
"Whether it's Sean or Tyrod or anybody, you've got to protect the quarterback," he said.
But Beamer thinks weeks of questions and speculation may have been a little distracting to his football team.
"There's no questions when there's if, ands, and buts, it's a distraction," Beamer said. "That's quite honestly why I asked the quarterbacks not to do interviews."
So will Glennon see any more playing time this year? Beamer says maybe.
"As we get better and get our receivers running better routes, and get our football team, running backs, picking up protection and so forth. That's where Sean can figure in."
