Girls audition for Playboy in Blacksburg

Playboy visits Blacksburg looking for “Girls of the ACC.”

A bathing suit and high heels are all students needed to audition.

Alyssa Omlie is a junior and felt totally comfortable having our camera in the room during her photo shoot.

"I think that the magazine is great. I think it's really funny and they have really good articles," Omlie said.

She says despite what other people say, the experience is good for her.

"I know that some people, it's not their cup of tea to come out here and be like either naked or in lingerie and be a little bit skimpy,” she said. “I don't mind it. I'm comfortable with myself and my body."

Cynthia Kaye is the Playboy photographer.

She says Playboy's college edition is one of the most popular issues.

Kaye says Virginia Tech women are usually a hit.

"I hear that it's been pretty popular in the past issues," Kaye said.

Sophomore Samantha Hugo also came to the tryout Thursday.

"I've actually wanted to do this for a while now,” Hugo said. “I just find the whole idea of Playboy and the glamour with it very fascinating and very wonderful."

Carly Hinchman and Maggie Cook, both freshmen, are friends and decided to try out together.

"When we're older and it's 20 years from now, we can be like, remember when we tried out for Playboy?" Cook said.

In all, five women tried out while we were there.

All of them admitted they hadn’t told their parents. According to Kaye, if they make it, they will have to break the news.

For now it doesn't take much to try out – a bathing suit, high heels and maybe some last minute advice.

"We don't know who's wearing which bathing suit," Hinchman said.

It’s all for a chance to be one of Playboy's “Girls of ACC.”
