The Town of Fries in Grayson County will get $300,000 from the economic stimulus to help improve the town's wastewater system, according to 9th District Congressman Rick Boucher's (D) office.

According to a news release:

The Town of Fries will replace the aging main wastewater line in the Town, which runs a half-mile along the New River. The new wastewater line will enable future growth in the number of businesses and residents in the Town. The funding will be administered by the Virginia Department of Environmental Quality.

“Early this year, I urged that any stimulus legislation should include robust funding for rural infrastructure, including funding to assist communities construct new water and wastewater systems, and a total of $10.2 billion was included in the Recovery Act for new water and wastewater systems nationwide. As a result of that funding, to date the Ninth Congressional District has been awarded more than $31 million to construct new and improve existing wastewater systems. The Recovery Act funding being announced for the Town of Fries today will provide a foundation for long-term economic growth in the Town,” Boucher said in the news release.
