Jeffrey Dupree, the man convicted of a drunk driving accident that killed a local construction worker, wants out of jail.

A judge sentenced Dupree earlier this year to two and a half years in prison for his role in the death of Richard Slone.

As we've reported, Dupree is appealing.

As a part of that appeal, he has filed a motion to be released on bond.

According to the Roanoke County Commonwealth’s Attorney's Office, this type of motion is rarely granted.

The hearing is scheduled for Thursday.
