Montgomery Co. awards contract for new courthouse

9/17 Update: Groundbreaking on the new courthouse, to be located at Pepper and Main streets, will be held on Friday, Sept. 18 at 10AM. The Montgomery County Board of Supervisors has awarded a construction contract for just over $19 million to build a new courthouse.

Devere Construction Company from Alpena, Michigan beat out 12 other companies for the project.

Crews will break ground in mid-September, with construction scheduled over the next two years.

The existing courthouse, which was designed in 1975, will be renovated into a public safety building.
