Virginia Tech's New Hall West gives students a great space with a "Green" touch

»  Comments | Post a Comment

Some lucky Hokies will soon move into a new residence hall.

New Hall West cost around $31 million to build, and is now ready for students.

With 133 rooms, housing 260 students, the new building has many great amenities for residents. The rooms are larger than others around campus, and each have their own bathrooms.

It's a very "Green" construction, from the lights, to the low flow shower heads and even the washing machines.

"We specify that we do have the more energy efficient washers and dryers. For the students to get what they need, and lower energy costs as well", says Kenneth Belcher with Housing Services.

Students can also reserve the washers and dryers from their rooms. They just get on their computer, look up the numbers, and they can hold them for about 5 or 10 minutes.

They can also us their Hokie Passport or quarters to wash their clothes.

The students will be moving in Wednesday, and classes start the 24th.
