The first week of December saw its first snowfall of the season, weighing down trees and slowing traffic. The picturesque sight was only seen in a few counties, which meant we had a lot of ground to cover.
At 9:45 a.m. in Roanoke, the snow was coming down, but wasn't sticking, so we headed to the New River Valley to find more snow.
In Christiansburg, some pushed the snow off their cars, while others went sledding behind Christiansburg High School. An empty charter bus sat outside the school where football players gathered.
"Our game got cancelled till tomorrow at 3 o'clock. And we're out here having fun, having a snowball fight with the coaches and players," said Patrick Lyon.
By 11:30 a.m., we visited Pembroke, There wasn't much more snow there than in Christiansburg, but one family was building an incredible snowman.
We decided to visit Rockbridge County as well to get more snow footage and hit the road.
"I think its' really pretty. And I don't mind it at all when it's not on the roads anymore than this. You can still and you can enjoy it," said Angie Moore.
It was a sight that kicked off the holidays.
"Exactly. I think a lot of people are doing their Christmas shopping today. And my older son, went shopping...kinda put him in the spirit I think," Moore said.
