A former local police officer is convicted of a sex crime.
Gary Trio pleaded guilty to sexual battery Tuesday morning in Alleghany County Circuit Court. Trio's 12 month jail sentence was suspended.
Trio was taken off patrol with the Clifton Forge Police Department after being accused by an 18 year old woman. Trio had since been working for the town's public works department. The police chief tells us Trio resigned from the police department on Friday and no longer works for the town.
