Former Roanoke City Councilman Alfred Dowe has until Friday to turn himself in on charges of obtaining money by false pretenses.
A Roanoke grand jury direct indicted Dowe on Monday.
No trial date has been set.
If Dowe misses the Friday deadline, state police could issue a capias, similar to a warrant, for his arrest.
The charges revolve around an alleged double billing scheme uncovered by the Roanoke Times last year.
Dowe has since paid all of the money involved in the indictments back to the city.
The city auditor said he does not plan to bill Dowe for anything else.
