Funeral arrangements made for Andrew Lambert

»  Comments | Post a Comment

The family of an 11-year-old boy shot and killed earlier this week makes funeral arrangements.

A cross stands where Andrew Lambert lost his life on a country road near his home.

A wreath is hung at Brookneal Elementary where the fourth grader went to school.

From family to classmates, the Brookneal community is remembering Andrew’s spirit and love of life.

Andrew was a very happy child. He loved school. He loved his teachers. He loved learning. He enjoyed his classmates,” said Guidance Counselor, Beverly Puckette.

The 11-year-old will be buried Monday at 11 a.m. in Louisa County where he and his family are originally from.

Puckette says people in Campbell County are calling the school asking how to help Andrew’s family financially.

“It’s very heartwarming to have community people offer to help and you know it really gives you a good feeling about your community,” Puckette said.

While Andrew’s friends and family try to come to terms with their loss police are piecing together what went wrong.

According to police, another 13-year-old witnessed the shooting. He and the suspect had been coyote hunting earlier that morning.

In court, the suspect's mother testified she didn't come out of the house after learning her son shot Andrew Lambert.

The investigation continues and the healing begins.

“There's still the sorrow. There’s still the sadness and the grief,” said Puckette.
