Roanoke Regional Aiport will receive a $2.2 million grant from the U.S. Department of Transportation, according to a news release from Congressman Bob Goodlatte's office (R-6th).
The money will be used to rehabilitate taxiway "T," and make drainage improvements.
“I am pleased to announce this vital funding for the Roanoke Regional Airport. Improvements like the updated taxiway will put Roanoke Regional Airport squarely into aviation’s 21st century. This development spells good news for our efforts to continue to make the Roanoke Valley a business and tourism destination,” said Goodlatte in the news release.
“This funding will permit us to begin the final phase of the complete rehabilitation of all airfield pavements. Grants such as this have permitted the taxiways and runways of this 79 year old facility
to look and perform like new,” said Jacqueline L. Shuck, Executive Director for the Roanoke Regional Airport Commission, in the news release.
