Virginia's higher-education agency plans to discuss ways to make college more affordable.
The State Council of Higher Education for Virginia is scheduled to make recommendations Tuesday on what the state can do to help students and their families cover the cost of college education.
The current economic downturn is forcing Virginia and other states to trim their budgets - including cutting education funding. At the same time, students and parents are finding it harder to afford rising tuition.
