State Police just sent out an update.

Investigators tell us the Floyd County Sheriff's Office received a call about a disturbance at 208 Eanes Road in Floyd, around 9:00 p.m. Monday night.

Three Floyd County deputies and one State Police trooper drove to the scene. When the officers arrived, State Police say a car being driven by 33-year-old Vincent James Lumia III from Patrick County, drove toward the officers, then crashed into two police vehicles.

The State Police trooper then shot and killed Lumia.

Investigators say the trooper who shot and killed Lumia is a 27-year veteran of State Police.

The State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigations, Floyd County Sheriff's Office, and the Floyd County Commonwealth's Attorney's Office are handling the case.
