Volunteers work to form certified search dog organization

»  Comments | Post a Comment

ATT Search Dogs draws members, both canine and human, from all over the region: Henry County, Roanoke, Pittsylvania County. Their goal is to succesfully create a dog led search and rescue team as a way to give back to others.

The group has been formally training for the past six months and hopes to be accredited and put to work by next year. Joanne Kuchinski says the idea is her passion and is something she has wanted to do since a Danville woman went missing some years ago, and later turned up dead just a mile from her home.

Kuchinski says the group, which is working on a tax-exempt status, is looking for more team members as well as donations and volunteers who want to get "lost and found" by one of the dogs in training.
