»  Comments | Post a Comment

A pursuit that began as a traffic stop ended in a wreck, landing a Lynchburg man in the hospital, according to State Police. A Concord man is charged in the crash.

Trooper D.T. Wilson said a Virginia DMV agent initially tried to pull over Alfonso Porter, 19, for a failure to yield the right of way, at about 5:20 p.m., but Porter would not stop.

After a chase that Wilson said lasted about 10 minutes, Porter turned right off of U.S. 460 onto Doss Road, in Concord, but crossed the center line, crashing his 2007 Ford Taurus into the driver’s side of a Ford minivan, driven by Harold Rob-erts, 71.

Roberts was taken to Lynchburg General Hospital with injuries Wilson said appeared minor.

Porter was charged with felony eluding, driving on a revoked/suspended license, reckless driving and possession of marijuana, among other charges, Wilson said.
