Lynchburg based National Guardsmen sworn-in as special police for inauguration

A group of Lynchburg based National Guardsmen became temporary Washington D.C. speical police on Sunday.

About 275 reservists from 1st Battalion are in the nation's capitol, to help the D.C. National Guard for the inauguration of president-elect Barack Obama. That includes members from the 116th Brigade Combat Team.

They're a part of 9,400 National Guardsmen from 25 states and territories, working for Joint Task Force-District of Columbia, providing communications, transportation, traffic control, medical and logistical support - as well as marching in the Inaugural parade, according to Maj. Cotton Puryear with the Virginia Guard.
